Christian Education in Desolated Island?

Christian Education in the Story of

Swiss Family Robinson

For many years Robinson's family had been grounded in the desert island. They lived far from the country and from technology. However, Mr. Robinson wanted his sons to have the knowledge like other young men had. He used every situation to teach his children. When they found a whale in the shore, he taught their children that the blubber of the whale could be made as oil for cooking and for the fuel of a lantern. His children already studied that the blubber of the whale could be made as oil, but he wanted his children to practice to produce the oil from the whale bone. He also taught his children to make flour from the flax which they found in that island. Mr. Robinson did these because he wanted his sons to learn how to survive in wilderness with all that God provided for them. He want his children to be an independent man, not always relied on him.

Even when they lived in the wilderness, Mr. Robinson always gathered his sons to have a devotion every evening. Although they didn't have a church building, Mr. Robinson always gathered his family every Sunday to have a devotion. In every devotion, he reminded his sons to realize God's providence in their life. He also wanted his children to have a good relationship with God.
Not only grew spiritually, Fritz, Franz, Ernest, and Jack also grew physically. In the evening, their father trained the boys to have athletic exercises such as running, leaping, climbing, and wrestling.  Mr. Robinson's intention was that his sons grow strong and be the active men. Not only athletic exercises, they also went for hunting. They hunted the wild animals and made them as their food. In addition to the food they also got healthy bodies.
In their loneliness, they still had hope to meet other persons. Because of their hope, Mr. Robinson wanted his family to study many languages from the book they found in the ship. They got many books, maps, charts, mathematical and astronomical instruments there. Through the discovering, they could learn as well as any students got. Mr. Robinson told his children to read their books diligently. He wanted his children become independent persons through the habits of reading and studying.

God always provided for The Robinsons needs. He gave them books for them to learn. From what they learned, they would be able to survive in the wilderness. They got flour, oil, and meats. They got it because they were diligent. Furthermore, they knew that God would provide for them. They learned all this principles because their father taught them even they lived in a desolated island.
